The project is coordinated by two research teams of the Hellenic
Mediterranean University, which is located in the island of Crete. The first, is
the Computer Music Laboratory (CMS) of the
Department of Music Technology and Acoustics, located in the city of
Rethymnon, and the second is the iSTLab (interactive Software Technologies &
System Engineering Laboratory), a research unit of the
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), which is located in
Heraklion. The two research teams have a history of almost twenty years of
collaboration in research projects focusing on areas related to Networked Music
Performance (NMP) and Computer Supported Cooperative Word (CSCW) systems.
Scientific Responsible and Coordinator of the MusiCoLab project is Assistant
Professor Chrisoula Alexandraki (CMLab) and Deputy Coordinator is Professor
Demosthenes Akoumianakis (iSTLab).
The second partner is the Cognitive and Computational Musicology Group
(CCM Group), a research unit of the Department of
Music Studies of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). The group is
directed by Professor Emilios Cambouropoulos and focuses on the systematic
analysis and description of music processes through the development and
evaluation of computational models. The group has a long experience in
research projects and permanent presence in relevant scientific conferences,
journals and edited volumes.
Dimitris Neonakis is a musician, a member of the Outward Bound trio, Bubble wrap trio, and Anima Latina, as well as a sideman for various performing artists.
Alongside a group of programmers and musicians they have designed and developed three mobile Applications, Genius Jamtracks, PitchBop and Genius Clicks, that early on found their place in the market as valuable music education tools among musicians.
He is one of the founding members of the FreeTheSopranoPlayer artist collective, created in Heraklion, Crete, in February 2017.

Antonis Tsikandilakis is a multi-instrumentalist (piano, bass, drums, guitar) mainly active in the field of jazz music. He is also a piano and bass instructor.
As a member of the Genius Jamtracks team, he has developed two mobile applications, PitchBop and Genius Jamtracks, apps for jazz musicians and music students.
As a musician, he has released three albums as a member of the Outward Bound trio (‘Outward Bound’ – Triple bath, ‘The Path’ – Slam Productions, “I Can See Clearly Now” – Unit Records)
Antonis is a member of FreeTheSopranoPlayer, a collective of artists based in Crete. The collective’s activities, for the past four years, include improvised musical performances, as well as collaborative ventures between musicians and visual artists, dancers, actors and other artists. Apart from this, FreeTheSopranoPlayer is behind Freedom Day Jazz Festival, an international jazz festival that brings together accomplished artists from Greece and abroad and takes place in Heraklion during July.
