Virtual Music Education and Collaboration Laboratory
The objective of MusiCoLab is to develop a comprehensive technological platform for remote computer-assisted music education by supporting
synchronous and asynchronous collaboration practices. It aims at creating a highly innovative product by combining research achievements,
technical expertise and scientific and artistic experience in three domains, namely:
-
- Networked Music Performance (NMP), for the development of a teleconferencing system which will be tailored to the requirements of music communication.
- Human Computer Interaction and Computer Supported Cooperative Work, which will focus on the development of interactive artifacts for synchronous collaboration in music lessons.
- Artificial Intelligence, for supporting music education through the development of computational models for
automatic harmonisation, which be used for the purposes of teaching music improvisation.
